Hale's Moon participated at the Sci-Fi Convention Relay for Life. In addition to the lovely poster decor provided mostly by Consulari Jai Raghilda, the booth featured a mini-Fook Yoo, courtesy of Mayor Seana Kawanishi. The diner would not be complete without a delicacy prepared by Chef Lily Snoodle - in this case, a pot of special chili.

Londonium's CoolLuke Sands donated a huge cave, reminiscent of Hale's Moon, to serve as the booth exterior. Lights from adjacent buildings cast spotlights on the booth, making it the highlight of the area.

A special appearance by Hale's Moon long-term resident Davion was the highlight of the weekend. He conducted a question and answer session on the fan-film Browncoats: Redemption. It was well attended and everyone is looking forward to his next film which might contain zombies.

A special thanks for manning the booth and representing Hale's Moon and FireFly RolePlay to Dr. Natirra Dannick, Mikie Rhiadra, Cody Winterwolf, AuroraBlue LittleBoots, Seana Kawanishi and LilyBell Snoodle.

Following a week-long Citizens-only opening preview, The Eclectic Emporium is now open to the public.

The Emporium is staffed by Hale's Moon GMs and volunteers, and is an in-character store.

All proceeds from items of the stores go directly to support Hale's Moon. Hale's Moon is a not for profit area designed to facilitate research on education and collaboration in persistent virtual worlds.

Alliance announces end of Martial Law on Hale's Moon

After several months of questions and speculation, the Alliance has officially announced the end of Martial Law on Hale's Moon. While patrols by the Alliance's district military force, the 1st Marine Raiders, were scarce after the first few weeks of the Martial Law announcement, this marks the official end of the situation.

Alliance Liaison Officer, Bethany Lionheart, confirmed the change to the Town Elders in a closed meeting. When asked why the situation had dragged on for so long, she was quoted as saying "Bureaucracy is what it is. Sometimes it takes longer than we'd like to get official word that we can make the change. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and would like to thank you for your cooperation during this period."

When asked whether the Alliance Military would continue their activities in the area, she replied "You folks are fairly isolated out here. We'd be remiss in our duties to you fine Alliance citizens if we abandoned you. The colony is yours again but you can be sure we'll maintain some presence." Adding "Strictly in the name of your safety, of course. With the history of the region that is a valid concern."

What this ultimately means to the colony remains to be seen. While largely unloved by Hale's independent minded populace, the 1st Marine Raiders did bring some much needed coin to the local economy.

Town Elder and Deputy Mayor, Genni Foxtrot, speaking for the Mayor's Office, said "About Gorram time they gave us our colony back. Mayor's off-world right now, but I sent her a wave. Suspect she'll cook up a shindig to celebrate though."

Petty Theft Crime Wave in Hale's Moon

Blue Sun CEO, Miss x0x0 Zhangsun, reported to police that her clothes were stolen while using the public shower.

The Sheriff's Office made out a report and inspected the scene of the crime. The investigation's official status is pending.

The Sheriff and his deputies made no official comment.

Another pending investigation by the Sheriff's Office is the report of a missing red bicycle owned by a minor local resident named Frog.

Residents are warned to be careful about their belonging if they use the public bathing facilities. Hale is not responsible for the theft of your belongings.

Hale is also not responsible for any paternity or sexually transmitted disease which may result from physical contact in the bathing or other areas. Abstinence and other safe sex practices are advised.

Doctor Injured in Medical Center Melee

Dr. Natirra Dannic suffered superficial gunshot wounds in the course of treating Mister Nick. Mister Nick. was injured during an outing to the Wastelands.

Details on the injury are being withheld by local health department officials.

Dr. Dannick is expected to make a full recovery.

The Trial

The Trial of a newcomer, Casey Proudfoot, was held Thursday evening. Judge Gage from the Alliance special detachment presiding. The hearing was held in the town square landing area. Casey Proudfoot, the Defendant. Charged with Drunk and Disorderly, Resisting Arrest and Creating a Nuisance. The trial drew visitors from around the 'Verse. Some people speculated there might be a hangin', which generally draws a large-ish crowd. The defendant was represented by Miss Shondra and the prosecution was represented by Attorney Abraham Byron, esq. Despite heckling from the jury, and attempts of various types to disrupt the proceedings, prosecuting attorney Abraham Byron made a strong case against the defendant. The key witness against Mr. Proudfoot was Sheriff Ibram Ansar who was seen wearing a suit at the hearing. This drew more attention than the trial from some folk. The defendant himself appeared to be intoxicated. Additionally, he produced a bag full of weapons in between drinking and falling over. Miss Imrhien flashed the judge but the judge still found Proudfoot guilty. He took mercy on the man, however, and did not hang him by the neck until dead as so many other judges have ruled in similar cases. Proudfoot was sentenced to rehabilitation and community service.

Hale's Moon Mayor Attacked

Claiming to be "delivering a message," an off world visitor entered the Mayor's office and fired one round at the Mayor who promptly returned fire. The Mayor was unharmed in the attack, and the assailant is currently under guard in the Infirmary with a gunshot wound to the chest. Their condition is listed as Critical and Infirmary officials have not given word on their patient's prognosis for survival.

The Sheriff's office has not released any details on the attack, however they are investigating the incident with their usual efficiency. When asked about what 'message', the Mayor replied "Not at liberty to discuss it right now, but will say folks seem to forget I don't carry a sidearm for show."

Anyone with further information is encouraged to talk to local officials. Their anonymity is guaranteed.

Alliance Officials declare Mercenary unit "Rogue."

In the aftermath of recent incidents on Hale's Moon, Alliance District Command in the Kalidasa system has declared the unit involved Rogue. "Their commander showed no respect for local Law Enforcement, local government regulations, or the local Militia. They put a few rounds into that Gorram killing machine, but in light of how they treated the colonists, they're more trouble than they were worth," Hale's mayor was quoted as saying after the announcement.

Colonel Silvermane, commanding officer of the 1st Marine Raiders and Sector Commander, posted the notice to Alliance units throughout the Rim and Border sectors. Alliance units were requested to apprehend the unit's commander and any members of the team travelling with him for questioning and probable legal action. The Mercenary's Guild was also informed of the unit's breach of contract and applicable civil law.

"Chances are the unit's leadership has gone to ground," the Colonel was quoted as saying. "They're the ones we're interested in but it's unlikely they'll surface again. Posting the writs was the correct, and legal, way to deal with the issue. Local Marshal's probably find them and have them bound by law if they turn up. As far as the Military is concerned, unless they turn up again and start shooting, we're considering this an issue for the Marshal's Office."

Any citizens with further information on the disposition of the Mercenary Unit's leadership are encouraged to contact their local Law Enforcement agency or Alliance Marshal's office. A modest reward has been offered for their capture or proof of demise.

Local shooting

An Alliance solider was wounded this evening when a local resident's gun was discharged in the pawn shop. The name of the resident is unknown; however it is hoped that the shop owners will be able to provide authorities with a surveillance video. Fortunately the wound was not serious, and the soldier, Gage MacArthur, is already back on duty.

MacArthur was just finishing up his evening rounds when he stopped into the shop. "I saw this unsavory character walking in that direction with one of the people from BlueSun , so I was just making sure everything was ok". There was a brief discussion regarding ownership of a memory storage unit MacArthur spotted in the shop. It was during this discussion that the shooting occured. The soldier is one of the regulars assigned to Hale's Moon. He requested the assignment when martial law was lifted and volunteers were sought to help ensure a peaceful transition back to local rule. MacArthur can often be found off-duty mingling with the locals, and is generally well-regarded in the community. Subsequently, as news of the shooting spread quickly through the small community, a small number of armed residents gathered. Some appeared to be reinforcements for the shooter, but others appeared to have come out to make sure things did not spiral out of control. They were all dispersed by the local Hale's Moon deputies.

An Alliance dropship was summoned by MacArthur when it looked like things could turn ugly, but the shooter and his cohorts left the scene. The Alliance contingent was called off, and MacArthur escorted the memory storage unit back to the Sun Tzu.

"Its an old Unit", stated a BlueSun representative, "not sure why anyone would want it". However, unnamed sources confirmed that the unit was about to be delivered back to BlueSuns x0x0 Zhangsun. She would neither confirm nor deny this.

This type of unit was used over twenty years ago during the terraforming projects done jointly with BlueSun and The Alliance. The Alliance had no comment regarding the Unit's presence on the newly refitted Sun Tzu.

Hale Resident Snaps Photo of Outland Sasquatch

Local Resident, Shian Ishtari, a retired terraform engineer formerly in the employ of Blue Sun Corporation, received the 100L reward for snapping this photograph of the so-called Outland Sasquatch.

The Hale's Moon Sheriff's Office made no comment about the photograph.

Warbot rumors upsetting colonists

Recent sightings of a "Raids" type warbot have caused some concerns amongst local citizens.

While other units of the type have been encountered in the past, it seems these recent sightings have become more frequent and the interaction more direct. Some folks who've encountered the machine have actually spoken with it, saying it's been asking about Raids and other folk on the colony.

Colonists are advised to use extreme caution when dealing with this machine as these units are incredibly dangerous. Hale's Moon Militia units have been advised to keep the Heavy Weapons and Sapper units on standby just in case.

The 'Not Raids' warbot can be identified by a greenish tinge to the warhull and some slight detail differences in the articulated arms, where our Raids, a valued citizen of Hale's Moon, is a silvery color. The Mayor's Office has said that anyone shooting Raids "by mistake" will be dealt with by the Sheriff as if they'd shot their neighbor or one of the younguns.

"We always knew there were others of the type. Fortunately, not many of them." The Mayor was quoted as saying. "They're right dangerous. A real holy terror in close combat. Best way to take one down is with an anti-material rifle or a Roller gun. But the Militia's got their orders, and we've let the 1st Marine Raiders know what's going on," she went on. Finishing with "Raids is one of us. Broke free of that big machine and earned a place with us here. No reason to treat her any different 'cause one of her sisters is on the loose, so I expect you fine folk will keep accepting her as you have. Besides, anyone shoots her without my leave'll get a . . . talking to."

Raids herself has expressed a desire to avoid any unpleasantness and has assured locals that she remains a peaceful member of our community.

Hale’s Moon Sheriff’s Office expressed concern over recent reports of a Sasquatch type creature (aka Bigfoot, Ponginae Gigantopithecus, Australopithecus Palaeojavanicus, Paranthropus robustus, Tauri Anthropoid or Hansen's Planet Anthropoid) in the Hale's Moon colony.

The creature bears a striking resemblance to Bihar Sanctuary Museum Curator Feargananym Karillian, although slightly shorter and non-verbal according to reports.

Bihar Sanctuary Museum Curator Feargananym Karillian commented, "No relation."

No injuries have been reported.

Sightings have been concentrated in the Wastelands area, but also in the main settlement.

The Hale's Moon Shipyard has salvage and refurbished FireFly Transports available for sale. The Salvage kei64s aren't flashy, but they fly well. The refurbished has some minor upgrades and is a might prettier.

All proceeds go directly to supporting the Hale's Moon Colony.

Find the salvage model at the Shipyards in the southeast corner of Hale proper. The refurbished model is on the tarmac. Detailed information is available from the for sale sign.

Both ship models are Lightbulk Cargo Transports:
Minimalist footprint of prims and script resources.
Smooth flight with good camera offset
Easy to land
The engine in the back glows and rotates during flight.
The side VTOL engines rotate along the vector of flight.
The ship uses a very low resource physical flight script and super low resources when landed.

The salvage model is ideal for the firstime FireFly captain. It's salvage, but it's been refitted and flies true. This is a bare bones ship.

It will work with the weapons we are providing for free in our gun store. These include knives, guns, swords, spears and more. More weapons will be added - check the gun store for information. We will also publish a list of the commercial weapons that we have tested and that work.

For now, we ask that you just use the free ones in the shop or on our weapons list.

VCS is a simple combat meter. All of your "health" and "stamina" update on your meter - they are not transmitted anywhere else. No personally identifiable information is collected or transmitted.

Crops Circles in Hale's Moon Stirs Controversy

A mysterious glowing crop circle was embedded in the main landing bay of Hale’s Moon.

Hale's Sheriff denies mind controlling powers of the Alien Sigil, but warned, "Don't touch!"

The sheriff failed to explain why they are called crop circles if there are no crops.

A shirtless drunken man on the roof of Firefly's bar reported, "Aliens, it was those damn aliens again! Aliens in hotpants!"

The Mayor made no statement about any aliens involved in this incursion into Hale.

Hale’s Moon Mayor, Seana Kawanishi, replied, “Huh. That's new."

Rabbit droppings were found at the scene; It is yet unknown if there is a connection.

Hale's Dentist was not available for comment about any random mutations caused by the menacing symbol.

No casualties have been reported.

RODEO COMES TO TOWN

The Rodeo is coming to town! Ride 'em, Rope 'em, Race 'em - The Hale's Moon Rodeo has something for everyone.

Get your pony ready, or use one of ours. Barrel racing, Street Scavenger Hunt, Bull Ridin', Calf Ropin', and more await you at the RODEO. Ride and rope, Tie and Climb, or just watch the cowboys go for the gold. Here's the schedule so far:

FRIDAY: Get gussied up and join us for the Opening of the Rodeo Days - Friday August 20th, as we kick off the rodeo opening at Firefly's Bar. The Rodeo Shindig looks to be featuring special drinks, special shows and some surprises. More news on special events will be announced.

SATURDAY: Saturday August 21st, the Livestock Truck arrives and the Rodeo will set up . Once the cowboys are set up, contests will take place throughout the day, and will be announced on the Cortex and via the FFRP Wave Radio Channel. There will be country line dancing at Fooks, and special food cooked up just for the occasion by Hale's Moon's own special chefs.

And, we are now accepting entries for SWEETHEART OF THE RODEO. Drop your most cow-girled, or cow-boyed up photo in the entry box. If you win, you get a 1000L$ prize. All entrants receive special appreciation western apparel gift prizes. Look for this box to submit your entries.

Enter early, and enter often - but you can only vote once. Voting will begin soon, and will continue up to the end of the night Saturday when the Sweetheart of the Rodeo will be announced and presented with her prize and special ribbons.

Hotel Opens

Last week saw the Grand Opening of The Companion Hotel, Hale's Moon's finest fine dining, lodging and event planning facility.

Shown here are Miss Shaylin Meadowbrook, Mister Tillery Woodhen and Mister Kasimir Heffner. Miss Meadowbrook was the original occupant of the actual Hotel Building when it was located in Blackburne Downport.

When she learned the building had been relocated brick by brick to help creat the new luxury hotel, she was surprised but delighted, and during her first visit, stated 'it just feels just like home'.

Firefly's own Nack Barnes tended bar on opening night, and was overheard admiring the extensive supply of Scotch as well as some of the attendees. The Companion Guild of Pacquin paid a visit in a pre-opening tour, and expressed a desire to spend more time in the 'peaceful environment', which is a stark contrast to the usual Hale's Moon bleak and stark day to day dusty life. The Hotel has taken great care to provide the kind of amenities that will help those who are used to more luxury, and privacy, find a solace in the stars.

The free shuttle continues to operate from the Hale's Moon Shipyards.

In a related note, the Grid-Wide Cortex News System was presented to a select group of Hotel Visitors. The Unit is now on display in the Hale's Moon Welcome Station. However, as the hotel offers such an unusual mix of luxury and horticulture, reservations - especially for the catered fine dining dinner for two - can be a good idea.

After weeks of looting, fires, and unprovoked attacks by individuals appearing to be affiliated with The Alliance, Colonel Silvermane, the Alliance Officer assigned to the space around Hale's Moon, has declared Martial Law over Hale's Moon.

The Alliance is now in charge of enforcing all law on Hale's Moon, and the Moon will remain under their charge until order is reestablished. Lily Snoodle, daughter of the mayor, was overheard telling the Colonel 'no one come in my house and tell me what to do'. The Colonel responded "we do not intend to go in anyone's house unless it is necessary for the safety of the citizens". Lily then waved her hand all around, and said "this my house", before shooting a grappling hook to the top of a nearby ship and running off.

Feelings about the establishment of Martial Law over the Moon are mixed. While some citizens welcome it, looking forward to the law and order, medicine and food The Alliance has promised to bring, others feel this could be the beginning of trouble for the small Moon. "They promised to 'help' Caliban, and look what happened", stated Vegaslon Plutonium, Proprietor of a Vegas Garage in the colony of Destiny. Others took an even dimmer view. "Best get locked and loaded", one resident, who asked not to be named, told this reporter, even as Alliance ships were beginning deliveries of the much needed food and medicine.

Mayor Seana Kawanishi remains offworld, and it is unknown if or when she may be able to actually get to the Moon. The establishment of Martial Law means The Alliance is in full control of Air Space and it will not be reooped until they believe it is safe.

Situation Critical UPDATE

There is no current ground support for rescue operations of any craft that violate the closed airspace order in effect for Hale's Moon.

The local situation has deterioriated beyond the response capabilities of local authorities and all ground personnel have been to cease all response efforts.

Food will be rationed beginning tomorrow morning.

We are attempting to contact the Mayor, who has been away on official business, to find out if there is anything that can be done to help with this critical situation.

Air Space Closure

ALERT

Air Space of Hale's Moon is closed while the source of a series of unexplained air attacks on civilian vessels is being investigated.

In the past twelve hours, at least three ships reported taking fire. While the attacks did not result in any injury to ship crew, two of the three ships were damaged beyond repair.

A third, the Little Clarity, was able to make a landing, and the Captain was able to exit the damaged craft. The ship exploded as rescue crews were attempting to put out the many fires.

A fourth vessel origin as yet unknown, crashed into the Wastelands, killing all aboard.

Update: A ship belonging to Griffen Shinn was able to make it to the landing area. According to Captain Shinn, he believed the attacks may have been initiated based upon the route his ship had taken. "They may have thought we had illegal cargo".

Hale's Moon ground facilities reopen

As the cleanup in Hale's Moon colony continues, Port Authority has been able to reopen the main pads and cargo handling facility. Though the facilities are not yet operating at full capacity, as resources are needed elsewhere, they are once again available to handle limited cargo and personnel transfer.

As before, priority is going to relief supplies and evacuation cases. Commercial cargo destined for the colony and ships picking up ore shipments will be given second priority, while transhipment cargo will receive the lowest priority until the backlogs are cleared.

Small craft are asked to use secondary facilities if possible, and the Orbital will remain available for both transhipment and personnel transfer at least until the ground facilities return to full capacity.

Alliance troops raid Destiny and Hale's Moon

While still reeling from recent fires and rock impacts, a small contingent of Alliance soldiers executed an armed raid on the Destiny enclave and parts of Hale's Moon earlier today.

Injuries were few and, fortunately, mostly light, according to Infirmary staff. The raiders, identified as Alliance, though not matching the known markings or transponder codes of the local 1st marine Raiders unit, were initially chased from the Destiny enclave by local residents. The raiders evacuated by shuttle, only to return a short time later with a larger force. This second force was also repulsed by a coordinated effort of the Hale's Moon Militia and members of Destiny's own internal self defense force.

The Alliance forces were based aboard a vessel identified as the Ticonderoga, which broke orbit before the IAV Abraham Sinkov could respond. The Ticonderoga is apparently an Alliance warship, but her transponder codes do not correspond to an active vessel. Alliance officials aboard the IAV Sun Tzu had no comment on the incident other than "We'll look into it."

Deputy Mayor Genni Foxtrot, speaking for the Mayor's office in Mayor Kawanishi's absence, was quoted as saying "We've been right civil with the Alliance for a while now. Not friendly, but not fighting either. Not sure who these jokers are, but they want to get frisky with us we'll show 'em them business end of a rifle."

Orbital remains open

In light of event on the surface, the Hale's Moon Orbital Maintenance Facility is remaining open to handle some limited cargo transfer duties and to serve as a transfer point for supplies destined for the colony. The Orbital's shuttles will remain operational to serve emergency needs, and most emergency supplies are being routed through the colony's indigenous lift capacity.

While the station is primarily intended for maintenance work and has limited warehousing for cargo transfer, priority is being given to emergency supplies destined for the colony.

While the town's main cargo handling facility is subject to the curfew, the remote landing area remains operational. However, this is considered an "unimproved" drop zone and spacecraft that are not certified for 'unprepared surfaces' should use extreme caution before attempting to land. Cargo landed at the remote site will need to be conveyed to the colony by surface transports.

Hale's Moon Citizens are advised that the curfew is still in place and they should STAY IN THEIR HOMES unless absolutely necessary.

According to Sheriff Gallagher, "people are getting hungry, the roads are all shut, and we really can't have people out wandering about. No shipments have been received since the initial incident several days ago. It's to the point where anyone found out without an emergency medical situation will be arrested and held until order has been restored".

The Spaceport and Downport are currently closed to all traffic, although station personnel state that some craft may be allowed in "if they are coming to help with food".

Street Violence Prompt Curfew

As clean-up crews continue to deal with the aftermath of the fire and asteroid, their efforts are being complicated by people getting injured as they attempt to steal what is left from the Department Store.

"Them just taking everything" according to a former store employee (pictured) . "Gots nuffing left now but some lamps, and that picture of the vampire boy name Edward...oh, and several of the robots but them old models and nobody want. But..for parts you fing they would takes them, huh. not sure why nobody steal them. Maybe if them get putted out in front, it would help...". The employee was shhhhshed by a colleague, and no further comments were available.

In some cases, what started out as simple looting has turned into small riots, as people clamour to get what is left from the Gregory House fire. In these photos, residents are shown rioting in front of the Department store, following a small explosion that resulted in additional merchandise being thrown into the street.

As local authorities were preparing to disperse the crowd, a full scale riot ensued. The police used rubber bullets to clear out the area, however, there are no signs of the activity slowing down. Less than twenty minutes later, another group of people made their way into the flame and ash. With limited items still available, most of them badly damaged, or inoperable, several fights broke out, and within the hour, police were called again to the scene.

According to Sheriff Gallagher Aeon, citizens should not panic, but stay tuned for further information.

A curfew has been imposed, and all citizens are advised to stay inside unless they are in need of medical attention. The clinic remains open, and fully staffed.

According to government officials, "people seem to be going a little wild, with the lack of sunlight, and we might have to impose a curfew". A small group of male youths reportedly assaulted a couple late last night as they left Firefly's Bar at approximately 11:55 p.m. The couple, who asked not to be identified, had spent the evening at the Bar, dancing and celebrating their recent engagement with friends. They left the bar shortly before midnight, and were accosted in the area behind Fook's. A diamond engagement ring, and a brown leather wallet were handed over to the youths, who then proceeded to separate the couple and assault the man. The woman ran to the local police office, but by the time they reached the scene, the youths had gone. The man was treated for a broken nose, fractured rib and several knife wounds by emergency personnel.

Anyone having information about this, or any other crime, is encouraged to contact the Sheriff's Office.

Two instances of looting have been reported to the local Law Enforcement office, following the collapse of the Department Store. "A lot of things were stolen by Raiders a few weeks ago, but now, people are taking just about anything they can get their hands on", according to an unnamed store spokesperson.

Sheriff Gallagher Aeon and a volunteer group have been patrolling the area to keep it safe for emergency crews.

All citizens are advised to exercise caution when doing business near the former site of Gregory House, and the Hale's Moon Department Store. Local repair crews are on the job to clean up the debris, but the heat from the fire and the asteroid are making things difficult. Clean up could take days, and until the area is clear, please be careful!

This just in from local reporter Patsy Pine. According to reports received by the Herald News Office this morning, a small shower of meteors or asteroids - we aren't sure which - made landfall early this morning, destroying the roof of the Hale's Moon Department Store.

According to the waved-in reports, other damage included broken windows.

Several valuable paintings from the Gallery were also reportedly destroyed.

Firefighters are on their way to the scene. Store personnel could not be reached for comment.

Fire Update

The suspicious fire at Gregory House raged on for two days but has finally been extinguished. "It's not like its a friggin oil spill", one resident was overheard to say. "It's a fire. How hard can it be?"

Nack Barnes, proprietor of Firefly's, "the friendliest bar in the verse...or 'else" disagreed. "This ain't some f'ing fire, man. This is an explosion for Pete's sake. Something blew concrete frames out into the street man.".

Thanks to the recently acquired fire truck, the fire was eventually put out.

There is an investigation underway.

Suspicious Fire Destroys Gregory House

Gregory House, Hale's Moon's premier high-rise luxury apartment building, was seriously damaged by fire last last night. Several residents were rescued by the volunteer fire department, but two cats were not so lucky. As cats are against the rules of the property managment company, a resident had hidden his two Siamese cats in a hollowed out gap between his apartment wall and stairwell.

Two of the rescuers received minor injuries, but both of the men asked that they not be named due to pending legal matters.

The fire was reportedly set by Lily Snoodle, known to local law enforcement both as Deputy Lily and a citizen with a penchant for starting fires. Snoodle denied any knowledge of the fire, stating only "what fire" when questioned. She was held overnight but released pending further investigation.

For now, the high-rise is not able to be occupied. BlueSun was contacted regarding its plans for the building, but has not responded. Ms. x0x0 Zhangsun occupied the penthouse suite, but she was not in residence when the fire occured.

Residents are asked to exercise caution in town, as parts of the building were blown as far as a mile away. Temporary housing for former occupants is being provided by Fook Yoo's Bar and Grill.

In a non-related matter, a jar named Audrey was reported stolen by Miss Snoodle. Several suspects are under investigation. A report was also made of the sun failing to come up for the past several days, but no one was able to give details other than it is dark, just like it was a couple years ago.

Sheriff returns to post

After a brief departure "to settle some personal matters," Sheriff Gallagher has returned to duty as Hale's Moon's lead lawman. Details are sketchy, but Town Elders have confirmed that Hale's Moon has full time Law Enforcement at this time.

One of the Elders was quoted as saying: "The Militia's spread a bit too thin to be keepin' watch on folk an' fightin' Reavers at the same time. Folks like havin' a Lawman about."

The Mayor's office had no official comment on the Sheriff's departure and subsequent return.

Milita caught off guard in Reaver attack

The Hale's Moon Militia was caught off guard by an unexpected Reaver attack. Quick response by several residents prevented what could have been a massacre as the town Militia assembled, holding back the attacking Reavers until they could be reinforced.

According to Deputy Mayor Genni Foxtrot, "We didn't get a lot of warning on this one. Woulda' been a lot worse, weren't for Nack and General and the others holding the line. Real violent this time too. More'n usual."

Casualty reports were lighter than expected given the severity of the attack, though several townsfolk are still recovering in the Infirmary. A request has been sent to the local Alliance command to honor their commitment to provide medical supplies in the event of an attack.

The patrol Frigate IAV Abraham Sinkov, normally on station in this region, is currently resupplying from the Cruiser IAV Sun Tzu, and there is some speculation as to whether the presence of an Alliance warship would have prompted the Reavers to attack a softer target.

Mindo Lupindo

Dr. Mindo Lupindo was involved in some kind of accident earlier today, which resulted in his untimely demise. There were several eyewitnesses to the accident, which occured right outside Firefly's Bar, among them Deputy Cody Winterwolf and his daughter, Anna.

Mindo is survived by his family, from Ariel, and his sister x0x0, from Hale's Moon.

A private memorial service will be held in Ariel.

Culture Gala Event

Hale's Moon was all shiny last night with song, dance and poetry. "I ain't never seen nothing like this", commented local resident Tarlek Sands, who watched the event from his post on the roof of Firefly's Bar. Starstruck Bakery and Pet Shop Manager Leia Cale had the place decorated to the teeth with a red stage that looked like something out of one of the Companion dumpsters. We are told Miss Lily Snoodle was in charge of decorating.

Ms. Cale herself kicked off the festivities with a poem about being a leaf on the wind, and was followed by Miss Miya Wingtips who told the story of a hungry dog in prose. There was not a dry eye in the place following her performance. Miss Calina and Miss Izzie graciously brought some culture from the Companion world. First, Miss Calina read two delightful poems.

Then, she was joined by Miss Izzie, and the two performed a dance with fans. This was surely the highlight of the evening. Mister Thoth Bellic, watching from around the corner, led the thunderous applause for the two women. According to Miss Miya, Thoth is a real afficianado of dance, 'specially that kind done by Companions.

The genetic construct LilyBell Snoodle sang a song she wrote and ended it with a short poem.

CULTURE COMES TO HALES MOON - TONITE

Tonite at 7 p.m. SLT, Starstrucks Coffee Shop will be the site of a very special twenty minutes.

Starstrucks Manager Leia Cale has arranged to have a poetry reading, with music and dance, performed by several citizens of the 'Verse. At 7:00 Miss Leia will take the stage in front of the Coffee Shop, and the culture will begin.

According to Manager Cale, "Miss Lily told me she saw some Companions do this, over at Al Raquis, and then she started saying all these things like violet quivering sand blowing through the non-existant trees, and said it was poetry. She was all excited. So I took a look into it, and found out we got some talented people who might like to share some of their poems and such with the community. "

The event will last approximately twenty minutes. It probably won't start on time, but should start somewhere around 7 p.m. SLT. There are some special surprises in store, including a dance and song by one of the Companions, an acapella song by Miss Snoodle, and a poetry read by a gentleman who asked not to be named yet. This news just in from the Hale's Moon Citizen Observer Patrol - Miss Lucy Applemoor was reported missing by neighbors who state they ain't seen the girl in over a week. Following this report of a what might be yet another victim of the HMSK (that's Hale's Moon Serial Killer), Sheriff Gallagher and Deputy Lily stopped in to make sure things were alright with Miss Applemoor.

What they found is sending ripples of fear and confusion through the normally peaceful mining colony.

Miss Applemoor's apartment was found looking "akin to a slaughterhouse" according to an unnamed source.

The Law Enforcement team taped off the area, and a full investigation will commence later today.

Some of the blood had spilled down into a neighboring apartment. The owner, Miss Chrissy Magnolia, could not be reached for comment. Hale's Moon Building Authority stated they will clean Miss Magnolia's apartment, but are considering whether to demolish or renovate the crime scene.

Applemoor is a relative newcomer to Hale's Moon. Few residents seem to know much about her. "That girl hang out at the smoke house where girls washes mans and drink and just lay around, and probably her finded a husband", said Deputy Snoodle. "Or else them aliens from the News taked her. You know. The ones from Venus that invaded last time on the News. " Snoodle was about to reveal more information on the case, but was hushed by Sheriff Gallagher. "We will file a missing persons report, and hopefully get some information on the girl's whereabouts soon."

Hale’s Church Endures Repeated Assaults

The Hale’s Moon Church, located near the mines entrance and the Destiny Compound has been repeated assaulted.

Several weeks ago, the newly erected building was burned down. Photographic evidence suggests the Replicant Order was behind the arson.

Replicant Order spokesperson, Krenshar Magic, stated that the fire shows that building a wooden church near the mines entrance is unsafe.

Most recently, the church was assaulted again with a posed corpse near the main entrance.

Sheriff Gallagher Aeon said that preliminary forensics confirmed that the bodies were not reavers and not local to Hale’s Moon. It was also revealed evidence indicates that the bodies were deceased for a matter of years in some form of cryrogenic storage.

The Sheriff’s department would not reveal the identities of their main suspect. Said suspect reputedly has left Hale’s Moon, but the Sheriff’s Office said that it is monitoring its actions.

Four new skinned decaptitated Corpses found in Hale's Moon

Four new skinned decapitated corpses were found in and around the Hale’s Moon Settlement of Friday.

The first body was found by Hale's Dentist Dr. Natirra Danick, posed outside of the Medical Clinic.

Ibram Ansar found a second body posed on a saddle by the Welcome Center.

Two more bodies were discovered in an open field posed as if playing a game of baseball. (Baseball is a traditional Japanese sport from Earth-That-Was.)

Previous corpses were sent offworld for forensics and hopefully for identification of the victims. Doctor Natirra Danick will perform lab tests on the more recent findings.

Previously Sheriff Aeon had hoped that forensics will be able to determine whether the corpses are reaver bodies or not, but Deputy Cody Winterwolf commented Friday that the preliminary results indicated that the first victims were probably not reavers.

Sheriff Aeon is currently offworld and will return in a few days, more updates at that time.

Egg Decorating Contest Winners

Hale's Moon Egg Decorating Contest brought out almost sixty entries, from all over the 'Verse. The judges, Hale's Moon residents and Outworlders reported "it took two hours to just narrow it down to 20...Choosing the winners and their order was nigh on to impossible but we did it. At least there was one unanimous decision, for first prize. "The Jayne Cobb egg was the one thing we could all agree on". That egg was created by Thoth Bellic. Mister Bellic also designed the huge egg that is at the top of the display. While ineligible for the contest due to design issues, the judges felt so strongly about this particular piece they insisted it be placed at the "winner circle", and be held on permanent display. It is rumoured that BlueSun is having the egg recreated in solid gold. This has not been confirmed.

Two new catagories were added - "most creative" and "most beautiful". CoolLuke Sands and Tabitha Diesel took these prizes hands down, with a stunning display of Steampunk and Faberge. Miss Diesel also was awarded second prize overall for her Egg entry, featuring peeps and chocolate rabbit.

Leia Cale and Vegaslon Plutonium were awarded third and fourth place, respectively.

The number of honorable mentions includes one egg, Gears by General Parkin, that was hotly contested for a place in the top five. A tie-breaker judge was brought in to make the determination.

The eggs are on display at the Catalogue Store, in the front window. Included in the display are most of the honorable mentions. Some got broken on the way to the store.

Egg Hunt A Smashing Success

Young and old alike turned out for the Hale's Moon Annual Egg Hunt.

Pictured here in her Easter finery is young Miss Anna Winterwolf, daughter of Cody Winterwolf.

Held over two days, the Hunt as almost cancelled due to a Reaver attack right before the opening bell. However, the Reavers received a thorough thrashing, and the HUNT went on as scheduled.

Other prizes for most golden eggs, and most eggs in numerial sequence were awarded as well.

A Consolation Prize was awarded Griffen Shinn, who found ONE egg.

Bags of Body Parts and Corpses litter Hale's Moon Easter Weekend

Five bags of body parts were found and four skinned decapitated corpses were found in and around the Hale’s Moon Spaceport, Mines and Destiny Compound.

Several bags of body parts were found hidden in various areas in the periphery of the main Hale settlement. The day following the discovery of the five bags of body parts, 4 corpses were discovered posed mostly in plain view.

A bag of body parts were found near a support pillar in the Northeast corner.

Nearby, a corpse was found dangling from the Hale Transmission Tower.

Rottengirl Elswit found a bodybag between the Gregory apartments and the catalog store.

When Leia Cale awoke, she found a body bag next to her bed.

At the playground between Leia Cale’s apartment and the catalog store a skinned decapitated corpse was found posed on the tire swing.

Another bodybag was found in a container being used as a residence behind Fook Yoo’s.

A decapitated skinned corpse was found dangling in the butcher shop.

A young girl named Anna found a bodybag in the mines.

Thoth Bellic found a decapitated corpse in his personal building in the Destiny Compound.

Several of the bags and bodies were found by Jango Fell. The Sheriff’s Office did not give specific details.

An egg painted with reaver blood was also found on display although currently there is no definite connection.

Sheriff Gallagher Aeon commented that, “It’s possible that the bodies are reaver corpses, but at this time it is not confirmed. Although we are treating this as a serial killer investigation we cannot confirm or deny anything at this point.”

Sheriff Aeon hoped that forensics will be able to determine whether the corpses are reaver bodies or not.

The Sheriff’s Office did not wish to comment on whether they expect further bodies to be discovered or why none have been found in the central areas of the settlement.

Hale's Moon Orbital completes 2nd stage deployment

After some delay in transporting the remaining modules, Kawanishi Heavy Industries Limited is pleased to announce that construction of the second stage of the Modular Maintenance Facility is complete. The additional modules should improve both capacity and capability of the facility.

In order to allow technical staff to more easily execute repairs on visiting spacecraft, the facility has added two enclosed hangar bays. Located above and below the main habitat, they allow repairs and maintenance to take place in a pressurized environment making life much easier for the maintenance crew.

The station has also added expanded bunkers for fuel and life support storage. This expanded capacity vastly increases the station's ability to refuel and resupply visiting spacecraft between tanker runs. There is also a high capacity solar furnace to augment the small fusion plant providing main power.

In order to facilitate easy transportation between the surface and the orbital, a dedicated hanger bay was added below Pad One for an automated shuttle system. These four place shuttles provide convenient an fast transportation between the orbital and a small shuttle port located at the edge of the colony's Maintenance and Cargo Handling facility.

The service is subsidized by KHI, and open for anyone who has business on the station.

With the added capacity, the Modular Maintenance Facility becomes the most advanced small yard in the region and the best option for light traders. While the installation is small, it has the specialized tooling to handle repairs to much larger spacecraft as well.

KHI looks forward to serving the local merchant fleet and Hale's Moon colony.

All citizens of the 'Verse are invited to walk through the BlueSun Corporate Grounds, and enjoy the Christmas Walk put on by BlueSun employees.

The Christmas Walk is an extravaganza you won't want to miss.

The Walk begins at the Gates of BlueSun, and goes throughout the property, culminating in a visit to Santa's Workshop.

Along the way, take time to enjoy the romantic pavillion by following "Snowflake Lane" to the scenic overlook. Or, spend some time in front of BlueSun Headquarters, where you can enjoy refreshments.

The path along "Toytown" is full of exciting new displays, and the ice rink has been specially decorated just for the Christmas Walk. Free skates available, as well as hot cocoa. Have a snowball fight. Snow has been created using shaved ice and the balls are by the toy soldiers.

Wander around, or rest under the Smiling Santa archway and watch the skaters.

Stop and rest, have some BlueSun Cocoa, and continue on, following the candlelit path to "Nativity", our display located appropriately in the BlueSun Stables.

Next, prepare for a visit to Santa's Workshop, where you may find him working - or he may be at one of our other facilities. Inside the workshop are gifts for you and your family.

The playground, dog park, pool and spa are open. However due to recent issues with crime, we ask that no children be left unattended. These areas are not part of the Christmas Walk.

Transportation to the Gates of BlueSun is provided inside Santa's Workshop.

The Walk runs now through January 15th, and is provided free of charge.

A hot tub with jacuzzi is also in the pool area.

KHI Deploys Modular Repair Yard

After a series of delays acquiring transport, Kawanishi Heavy Industries Ltd. has finally deployed the Modular Repair Facility approved by the Town Council months ago. The deployment was made possible by long time Hale's Moon resident General Parkin when his Heavy Lift spacecraft unexpectedly became available .

With transportation in place, Company field engineers and local technicians were able to assemble the modular components on station in a mid/high orbit over the colony. In addition to providing additional repair facilities, with their associated jobs, the station will give the colony additional communications relays and improved NavTrak capability.

It will be some time still before the platform becomes fully operational, but all life support, power, and communications functions are in place and operational already. The platform is expected to facilitate its first orbital transshpment within the week.

Local resident Sabrina McGee-Kawanishi has been selected as the station's Director of Engineering and Operations Manager. According to the agreement negotiated between KHI and the Colony, the majority of the workforce will be drawn from colony residents, and most operational profits will be funneled back into Hale's Moon's infrastructure.

When asked about a possible conflict of interest, the Mayor replied "I've always tried to do what's best for the colony. Part of the agreement with KHI was that I'd have no personal financial interest in the platform. My wife may be running the place, but we're going to keep the records open. She'll draw a salary, just like everyone else, and it'll be right in line with Industry standards. This is your platform, people. Not mine."

Plans are under way to have a Grand Opening shindig at Fook Yoo's sometime in the near future.

Hale's Moon Trolley Service announces opening of GREEN LINE branch. You can board at the Trolley sign located outside Fooks, across from the gun store. It runs one way only and terminates at Firefly's Bar, across from the Boarding House. The service is free. Just jump on when the Trolley shows up, and it will take you down to Firefly's. Jump off FAST when you get there - the Trolley does not stop for long.

"We called it the Green Line because it goes from Fooks here, to a safer place, you know. Like, green for go to safety. Not that any place is all that safe. But it's safer to go to Firefly's than to come over here. Course, you got the Wastes and West Town on the other side, but so far nothing has come in to cause any trouble."

The Rail and Trolley service is a joint project of BlueSun and Dharma. "Eventually we're hoping to get people out there to the Settlements safely, and faster. Right now, it’s just too dangerous to attempt crossing the Wastes."

Concerns that the Rail system construction is stirring up things best left unstirred out in the Wastes continue to be voiced. "We know there are some concerns that the snakes and things that have been seen in town are a result of the rail project, and it’s possible that some lifeforms may need to be relocated or subdued. This is a necessary fact of any expansion. We don't anticipate any major problems."

Alliance Authorities Lose Hale's Moon Prisoner

Hale's Moon Militia captured wanted fugitive InupThoret Yuhara after a prolonged drawn out firefight and chase. The bounty of 850 cans of beer was split between the five militia members involved, Gabe Yazimoto, Emma Ditko, Emberzzz Mendelsohn, Zade Karu and Cody Winterwolf.

InupThoret Yuhara was wanted in Hale for the robbery of the General Store and other related crimes.

Thoret also had many outstanding warrants on other planets and moon and Alliance warrants were also in effect.

Gallagher Aeon surrendered custody of InupThoret Yuhara to Alliance authorities who transported the felon to Aberdeen to be tried on several outstanding warrant.

Alliance Prisoner Transport Services confirmed that InupThoret Yuhara escaped from their custody while being transported to a police vehicle in the Kalidisa system and is currently at large somewhere in the Core Worlds.

Hale's Moon General Store Robbed and Vandalized

Monday morning, Hale's Moon Sheriff, Gallagher Aeon, reported that the general store in the main spaceport has been robbed and vandalized.

Graffiti was painted on the walls, several sundries were taken, the delivery van was stolen and the store set on fire.

The front door was blown in using explosives which also caused the stock of toilet paper catch on fire. The thief emptied the cash register, damaged the store 'bot, stole washing powder & liquid, candy, video discs, cigarettes, cola, beer, t-shirts, gum and other various sundries, then escaped using the General Store's Delivery Van.

Sheriff Gallagher Aeon was offworld at the time, local militia investigated the crime scene while the Sheriff assisted via telecomm consult.

The security recorder was destroyed, but the last picture was sent wirelessly to the Sheriff.

Investigation turned up a fingerprint, dna from used chewing gum found on the street, plus the thief's cell phone was recovered.

Gallagher Aeon: "...seems the thief 'InupThoret Yuhara' is from the Hale's Wastes."

A crate of beer is offered as a reward for the capture of InupThoret Yuhara and wanted poster printed and distributed.

Mr. Yuhara has a substantial criminal record and is associated with an interplanetary criminal organization. He is considered very dangerous.

The local militia sighted the fugitive a couple of times, but were not able to apprehend him.

Captain Griffen Shinn's ship was broken into and some valuable cargo and personal possessions were taken.

As Mr. Yuhara is associated with an interplanetary criminal organization, neighboring systems have been put on alert for the whereabouts of the fugitive.

Loyalist Terrorizes Hale's Moon

Loyalists made terrorist attacks on the Hale's Moon Spaceport beginning early afternoon on Monday.

Venice Ditko, formerly with the late Independent 12th Air Calvary, reported seeing a heavy set soldier wearing an Alliance unifom detonating explosives on the east end of the Hale's Moon Spaceport. The local militia, aided by other locally available people, exchanged gunfire with the assailant.

Recent arrival, Doctor Jesie Blauvelt, reported that her Mule was destroyed in the attack near Fook Yoo's.

Several serious injuries were treated by Hale's Moon's new doctor, Doctor Lina Footpad. A local mechanic named Mr. Doc Boozehound and Captain Griffen Shinn of the ICS Valiant, were given treatment for their injuries and later released.

Reese Shawbridge's foot was blown off while trying to defuse the explosive device, he was treated by Dr. Footpad and sent offworld to be fitted with a cybernetic prosthetic.

The unidentified terrorist ran into the infirmiry during the gunfight and left a note with local resident, Miss Emma Ditko, and then quickly departed the local airspace.

After Mr. Boozehound and Captain Shinn were released from the infirmiry, a search discovered that Miss Ditko and Dr. Footpad has already left the vicinity and could not be reached for debriefing by the local militia.

Security reports that there was a breakin at the Blue Sun Corporation Headquarters in East Hale, no further details were provided.

It is unknown at this time what the objective of the attack was.

Warbot Sighting in Hale's Moon

Late Saturday night, approximately 23:30 hours (SLT), a warbot was sighted in the desert mountains area, west of the Hale's Moon Spaceport.

Altarus Byron reported seeing the robot in the hills earlier, "keep'n itself to itself, didn't think much of it."

Korguth Silvercloud reported previously seeing the robot on the roof of a building within the colony.

Reese Shawbridge witnessed seeing the warbot attempting to cut thru the glass panels of the Fook Yoo's roof but was shooed away by barkeep Sobi Kawanishi.

It was only later when a small craft was near the mining entrance that the warbot made an aggressive act, firing and downing the small craft. No serious injuries were reported.

Witness accounts report that the warbot scanned medical equipment.

Local residents Amon Ansar, Emma Ditko, Reese Shawbridge and Jai Raghilda along with visitors, Altarus Byron and Korguth Silvercloud, pursued the warbot around the Hale's Spaceport and the Western Desert for close to a half hour before it escaped its pursuers in the mines.

Attempts to communicate with the mechanical was unsuccessful.

Reese Shawbridge was able to get close enough to the warbot to get the warbot's model number, Model XG001-Zeta Warbot, confirming that it was indeed a warbot and not a rogue mining droid.

Reavers Abduct Hale's Moon Resident

The largest reaver attack in many months seriously injured many Hale Residents.

No authoritative details about the total number of attackers are available, but 136 reaver bodies were recovered after the fighting subsided.

The Dharma Initiative collected the reaver bodies and disposed of them on behalf of Hale's Moon. It is unknown at this time who the Dharma Initiative is or what their interest in Hale's Moon or reavers might be.

Local militia battled for several hours against the onslaught of wave after wave of reaver platoons attacked Hale's Moon.

An open call into local rim space brought in many helpful folks to the aid of Hale's Moon.

Many people were seriously injured requiring evacuation to infirmary. Local resident, Gabe Yazimoto, required resuscitation by Sheriff Gallagher Aeon.

Long time Hale's Moon resident, Miss LilyBell Snoodle, was shot down from behind, tied up and taken aboard a departing reaver ship, according to eye witness Emma Ditko who was critically wounded by reavers.

Mayor Seana Kawanishi is currently organizing search and rescue efforts.

At least two separate reaver attacks, starting at noon SLT startled the Hale's Moon Shipyard.

Hale's Moon's Mayor, Seana Kawanishi, made an open call from Hale's Moon Control, calling to the local rim systems "...We have a report of Reavers on the ground. Anyone in position to assist would be most welcome."

Members of the Hale's Moon Militia were seriously injured and Alliance Officers were also reported slain.

The reaver attacks occurred during a resupply by the Abraham Sinkov. The patrol frigate, kept in high orbit is staffed with a full platoon of combat troops plus the frigate's naval crew.

The Abraham Sinkov mourns to loss of its two fallen comrades. No details were given.

The injured local milia members are recovering well.

Mr. Vegaslon Plutonian (Vega for short) has accepted the post as manager of the Hale Boarding House on the west end of the spaceport, across from the bank and between Starstruck's Coffee & Petstore and Firefly's Bar.

The Boarding House offers both private and hostel style accomodation. All rooms are fully furnished. Accomodation include vouchers for breakfast and two free drinks at Fook Yoos Bar and two free coffees at Starstruck's.

Vega explained the boarding house concept very plainly, "...when people first arrive and they don't have any place to stay, they can sleep here at the boarding house."

Rates for the Hostel accomadations are 50L per half day, 250L per week or 500L per month. Private rooms are 250L per day. Rates are negotiable, and must be paid in cash up front. The previous manager accepted IOUs and guns.

No cooking, there is food in the bar and coffee at Starstruck's which is right next door.

No pets. Exceptions made for ones that the manager likes and is nice and doesn't make a mess.

No smoking, sex or spitting on the premises.

As Mr. Vega explained, "This is a boarding house not some cheap hotel. We have standards and must have respect for the other guests."

Vegaslon Plutonian was originally from Boros in the Georgia system and worked as a mechanic specializing in electrical systems on the Alliance Shipyards on Ares, one of Boros' moons. Vega has been in Hale's Moon since the beginning of July, "I came here to get away from some marital troubles and I stayed because Hales had a boarding house and I felt welcome on that first day....even got a tour from Lilybell. Met the mayor and everything on the first day. I also met Krenshar, but it took me a while to get the nack of him."

Town Council reacts to Aggressive Automatons

In the aftermath of yesterday's attack by swarms of automatons, the Town Council and the Mayor's Office had a brief question and answer session to help alleviate concerns that a full scale robot invasion was immanent. "The colony has dealt with far worse than this," The Mayor was quoted as saying. "A bunch of cheap knock-off's of the KM Series Replicants aren't going to be able to break this town."

Analysis of several recovered wrecks indicates that, while superficially similar to the KM Series deployed by Weyland Yutani some years ago, the automatons that attacked the town were of much lighter, and less sophisticated, design. "These machines relied on swarm tactics, and did most of their damage by brute force."

When asked about casualties and damage, the Mayor replied "Our medical resources are stretched pretty thin, and we'll certainly need resupply in the coming days. But we're doing OK for now. Worse comes to worst, we'll evacuate the wounded. The Alliance has a Frigate on patrol not too far from here. Won't hurt to have them earn their keep."

Repair crews have already started repairing the damage done to some of the colony's infrastructure, and communications has been largely restored by routing traffic through Flight Control's main relays. Citizens are advised that some low priority traffic may be delayed until the may relay comes back on-line.

In response to questions about a possible motive, or source, for the attack, the response was somewhat non-committal. "I've heard everything from Weyland Yutani sending bots to try and disrupt Blue Sun's operations here, to the possibility of one of those factory machines like they had on Blackburne. Without more evidence, we're not prepared to say anything more than 'we're looking into it.'"

When pointedly asked about some citizen's suspicion that resident Mechanical, Krenshar, was behind the attack, the Mayor replied "History aside, that's a completely unfounded accusation. While these bots looked a lot like a KM Series, like Kren, we've seen enough of the wrecks to know they're not. They barely count as cheap knock offs. While I know a few people are a bit riled up, accusations like that don't help anyone."

An inquiry into the source of the robots and the motivation for the attack is under way.

"The robots finally revolted," commented Hale's Moon Wasteland Village Resident and Proprietor Mr. Amon Ansar described the many waves of attacking robotic cogs, "There were too many, not enough time. It was all we could do to stay alive. They came in rows of ten at a time, just as fast as we could kill them, for a long, long time....for hours."

Witnesses report that Firefly's Bar Proprietor, Mr. Nack Barnes, fought bravely. Witnesses reported that he fought until he needed new guns, "....guns got so hot..."

In addition to the Hale's Moon Militia and local residents, some new folks were reported to have lent needful assistance. Witnesses reported about a big man that grunted a lot came to help from the Wastes. Also a Portuguese speaking gentleman and someone, "dressed like an elf" also lent assistance.

The Consolidated Associate Traders of Zenobia Office reported that their replicant secretary was also shot, "Probably a case of mistaken identity, " a representative replied, "...fortunately, it an easily replaceable model". An onlooker commented "Everyone was panicking, maybe somebody thinked it was one of the bad ones. There....so....many..."

Long-time Hale's Moon resident, Miss LilyBell Snoodle reported, "Lots of serious injuries, bodies littered West Town. All torn up. Then lot of robots camed. Panic in the town. Lily call for help....some camed....help. Robots overran the town."

Mayor Seana Kawanishi also called out on the open channels for assistnace.

After several waves of the replicant infantry were depleted, aerial sentinel drones attacked. Normally assigned to protect the defend the mines, these aerial drones shot at residents.

Hale Wasteland Scrap and Salvage operator Amon Ansar suspects long-time Hale's Moon resident, replicant Krenshar Magic, as partially responsible, "...one of those things nearly killed me, I take a dim view of that kind of activity. Tell me where Krenshar is and how he was involved and I might just decide not to perforate his skull-casing the next time I see him."

In an supposedly unrelated event, a sniper tower has been installed in the Hale Wasteland Village (West Town) by a local resident.

The allegedly deactivated Warbot in fireflys, Raids Blackburn, was reported to have flashing eyes during the battle.

There is no confirmation that this event is related to the "Replicant Order" problem that Hale's Moon was previously plagued by.

Amon's Scrap and Salvage opens in Hale Wasteland Village

Amon Ansar, recently relocated to Hale's Moon, has opened a Scrap and Salvage shop in the Hale Wasteland Village. "It is totally not a Chop Shop," commented the proprietor, Amon Ansar, "a completely legitimate operation."

Mr. Ansar noted that he was looking to hire a synthetic assistant to be a walking advertisement and to mind the shop when he'a away. The job will include free maintenance, sort of a robot healthcare program and they can recharge themselves from his solar panel.

Hermoine Hale, the news hologram previously located in the front of the Hale's Moon Herald offices is returned after some minor modification to make her more resource friendly.

Hermoine dispenses Hale's Moon Herald's recent news, the url to the Hale's Moon Herald blog, a list of Firefly Blogs, a map of the 'Verse and even a cup of coffee. She will also send a message to yours truly, Jai Raghilda, Hale's Moon Herald's reporter at large. She is now inside the Herald offices instead of outside, just visit and click.

Although much utilized, she was removed because she was using resources unwisely. Thanks to some assistance from Hale's Moon's clever scripting replicant, Mr. Krenshar Magic, she is now more resource friendly since she is not always on. She only activates when someone visits inside the office.

A new addition to the Herald office, also thanks to Mr. Krenshar Magic, is a picture display that scrolls thru the Herald's many newsphotos. We put in a nice couch so you can lounge comfortably, have a nice cup of coffee and leisurely catch up on the news and events.

A 400 ton (estimated) - 5 meter diameter meteorite, impacted in the center courtyard of the Hale Wasteland Village. No injuries or building damage was reported.

Sheriff Gallagher, a week earlier on his way back from the wastelands , was informed that INSILICO's long range monitor warned of meteor or asteroid activity that could impact Hale's Moon and the immediate surroundings.

An immediate survey of the space above Hale's Moon indicated no immediate threat, monitoring continued.

Starbucks Files Complaint Against Starstrucks

Starbucks Corporation, the largest coffee chain, is attempting to stop an entrepreneur from opening a coffee store called Starstrucks, according to the Mint business newspaper.

Starbucks has complained to the Controller-General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, stating that the name Starstrucks is deceptively similar to Starbucks, the newspaper reported.

However, the entrepreneur behind Starstrucks, said the stores are completely different to the Starbucks stores.

The proprieter is refusing to give up the name and vows to fight Starbucks in the battle, according to the Mint report.

Starstrucks plans to open many stores, in places in which Starbucks is not yet present.

When asked about the complaint, Starstruck's Manager, Miss Charly Starsider replied, "My boss, never said a word to me about this other corporation which we've never heard about. We feel we offer a unique product for our consumers. Where else can you buy a nice hot delicious hot or iced coffee....AND a cute little bunny rabbit for a pet....all in the same place? Also, I have really yummy sticky buns."

Town Council comments on Blue Sun investment

The Town Council, through the Mayor's Office, has made an official statement regarding the recent construction project undertaken by Blue Sun on the outskirts of town. While Blue Sun is widely known throughout the 'Verse for a broad range of products - from Foodstuff to Portable Entertainment Systems, some Hale's Moon residents have lived here long enough to remember life under Wayland Yutani, and expressed concern that Blue Sun's investment could signal the return of "Life in a company town."

In a brief statement in Town Hall, the Mayor was quoted as saying "Blue Sun's investment here on Hale's Moon does not signal wholesale Corporate involvement on our little slice of Heaven. You fine folk expect your local government to do what's right for the colony, and that's what we've done here. We've received legally binding paper that holds them to certain standards, and they'll be doing business under terms that are very favorable to the colony."

When asked about other corporate investments, the Mayor responded "We still have a working relationship with Black Tortoise Mining to buy our ore, and Frontier Transport for use of our transhipment facility. As far as the business is concerned, the new Blue Sun installation won't stop investment by other companies and it won't interfere with our way of life."

While details of the agreement have not been made public as yet, it's rumored that the negotiations were rushed to enable Blue Sun to continue with their construction while still giving the Colony a solid deal.

Blue Sun Corporation has announced the relocation of their corporate headquarters to Hale's Moon.

While it is not yet known how many locals the organization may employ, A Blue Sun Corporate Media Representative stated "Live life with Blue Sun. Its not just a motto, its the only way to live".

A spokesperson at the construction site told Hale's Moon Herald, "Rumor has it they new man in charge demanded they move the office here. That's all I know."

An abandoned mining tunnel collapsed on Saturday. The spent mine had been abandoned years ago for safety reasons. Sheriff Gallagher Aeon place police tape and a notice for no one to enter the mines for safety reasons.

Later that same day, Lerch Swashbuckler and CoolLuke Sands responded to the radio distress call of Sheriff Gallagher Aeon who later became trapped in yet another cave-in without any means to extricate himself. Mr. Sands and Mr. Swashbuckler were able to blast thru the rocks and get to the sheriff before his oxygen supply ran out.

As they were exiting the tunnels another tunnel collapse with hundreds of rocks crashed down again separating the two parties.

In early afternoon raids, Gabe Yazimoto, Sheriff Gallagher Aeon, Zade Karu, Reese Shawbridge, LilyBell Snoodle, Jai Raghilda, Finder Reluin fought off several waves of reavers who arrived in at least two different ship attacking both in Hale Proper and the Western Wasteland region.

An unnamed stranger rendeded valuable assistance, then disappeared shortly thereafter. Jai Raghilda extends a heartfelt thank you to this unnamed stranger who fended off a reaver who was very close to killing her.

During a lull in the fighting, Sheriff Gallagher went in search of the source of the reaver attacks, his ship was reported out of control

Several members of the local militia suffered severe injuries and required medical attention. Other injuries were reported, no causalties yet reported.

Vandalism and Vigilantes in Hale's Moon

Ms. Belize Carver, long time resident of Hale's Moon and medical professional has recently appeared to be the victim of vandalism:
Farm supplies left in the bedroom where she slept.
Tomatoes thrown at the apartment where she was staying.
Smuggled out of her bedroom while she slept and left in the street.

"...something hincky...", was Ms. Carver's comment when asked about the event when she was found in the street of the Hale Spaceport by Jai Raghilda, Lilia Michalski and Katrielle Savira.

Long time Hale's Moon resident, Miss LilyBell Snoodle, expressed concern for Miss Carver, stating "Last night Miss Belize was screaming, so maybe her need help....screaming 'NO NO NO No' and then 'yes'...."

Two other incidents involving stolen Sake and Vodka from local residents has also been reported.

Sheriff Gallagher is said to be investigating.

Long time Hale's Moon resident, Krenshar Magic, and Firefly's Bar Bartender, Zade Karu, were held and gunpoint at Fook Yoo's the Hale's Moon Spaceport by four masked women dressed in dark clothing. Identifying themselves as Aldea, Olive, Vivian and Constance, held Mr. Krenshar at gunpoint and gave him money.

The one who identified herself as Aldea, told Mr. Krenshar, "Do as we say and nobody get hurted. We here to help the people of the halemoon. That to help you remember not mess wif us." The masked woman then gave him money and agreed to assist him in testing an explosive device. One witness reported that the women smelled of vodka and cigarettes.

Three local residents, Jai Raghilda, Gabe Yazimoto and Emily Ditko, at Fook Me Hookah Lounge in the Wasteland West Town (far away from the incident), commented that it was "scarey" and "you're kidding me, right?" Proprieter Gabe Yazimoto supplied free tea and sushi at the Japanese styled restaurant and lounge in the Wasteland West Town.

Local Resident rescued from Raiders, Reaver Attack burns West Town

Two waves of attacks buffeted the Hale's Moon Colony Monday. Raiders kidnapped a local resident, Emma Ditko, who was later rescued by local militia. Later that same day Reavers attacked in force and burned the village west of the Blackburne Colony,

An empty mid-sized cargo transport Firefly Series 03 with a Blue Sun insignia visited the Hale's Moon spaceport unexpectedly without asking permission to land. Sheriff Gallagher Aeon approached the two heavily armed men about their unannounced visit and the nature of their business in Hale's, this was met with provoking rude talk and profanity. Confrontaton with local resident, LilyBell Snoodle escalated to fisticuffs followed by one of the men discharging a firearm resulting in a street fight.

Local Militia managed to drive off the men, but it was later discovered had taken local resident, Emma Ditko, as prisoner and attempted to ransom her.

Communications off planet was offline and members of the local militia, Gabe Yazimoto and Jai Raghilda, managed to rescue Miss Ditko from the raider's base camp, not far from Hale's Moon.

After their capture, the raiders made several threats of retribution, such as to, "...tell that ranger that I remember him from the old days, and there's going to be a reckoning coming."

The two raiders were deposited in the local jail. No citizens casualties and major injuries were reported, The residential courtyard was severely damaged.

Later that same day, a large wave of Reavers invaded Hale's Moon and set the western village on fire.

Exact numbers were not given, but Madame Mayor Seana Kawanishi said that Blackburne Colonist Nack Barnes alone put down six. Local Resident, LIlyBell Snoodle, broadcast instructing local citizens to stay in their houses. Other citizens took shelter in Fook Yoo's. No casualties were reported, but Reese Shawbridge was reported to have suffered severe injuries. LIlyBell Snoodle was ambushed in the west town of the wasteland and witnessed the fires.

Jai Raghilda accepts post at the Hale's Moon Herald

In an effort to assist residents and visitors to keep better infomed of the news and events happening in Hale's Moon, Jai Raghilda has agreed to report the news thru the Hale's Moon Herald.

Ms. Raghilda is a graduate of Londinium University with a Scientiae Appliquée Baccalaureus Ordinaire Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics and Interplanetary Trade. Ms. Raghilda currently runs a small shipping and trade company and is based out of Hale's Moon. As requested by Miss LilyBell Snoodle, Ms. Raghilda attested that she has no criminal record and no outstanding warrants or other legal matters.

Ms. Raghilda has been a resident of Hale's Moon for only a few months, but has been tracking news and events as it can affect shipping and trade. Now she shall do so in an official capacity for the Hale's Moon Herald.

Jai Raghilda commented that she, "be happy to do it for the good people of Hale's Moon who have been so good to me. It's an honor."

Fook Yoo's hosts Shindig

Fook Yoo's played host to a royal shindig to celebrate the Birthdays of long time residents Krenshar Magic, Lilybell Snoodle, and Sabrina McGee, last night. The shindig, planned by recent resident Charly Starsider, was well received and well attended by both locals and visitors to Hale's Moon alike. Music was arranged by birthday girl Sabrina McGee.

While a straggler from a brief Reaver attack earlier in the day, which caused several injuries, but no deaths among the colonists, did make an appearance at the edge of town, it was quickly dealt with and the festivities went on without interruption.

Residents are encouraged to drop by Fook's for a slice of cake while it's still fresh.

Loyalist attacks continue

Perhaps spurred to action by the recent arrival of refugees from Blackburne, the rag tag band of Loyalists, still hiding in the desert like cowardly animals, have once again attacked Hale's main township in an effort to abscond with supplies.

While the encounter started peaceably enough, with a small band of Loyalistits setting down their no-longer-space-worthy lander on Pad 3, and entering Fook's to buy beer, it quickly degenerated into gunplay as tempers quickly flared and townsfolk took to defending their town.

Casualties were reported to be light amongst the townsfolk, with at least one Loyalist reported killed by rifle fire from the tower. While members of the town militia were able to plant charges on the Loyalist lander, they were unable to completely destroy the vehicle. Witnesses reported the lander leaking fuel and smoking badly when the remaining Loyalists evacuated the town in defeat.

In the fight's aftermath, the Mayor was quoted as saying "We offered them Amnesty on more than one occasion. We gave 'em a message when they kidnapped Lili last time - lay down arms or the desert can have you. Well, we've got our answer."

Time will tell whether a rumored plan to finally eradicate the Loyalists will happen or not, but it's become clear that they are unwilling to live peaceably with the townsfolk, and the townsfolk have reached the end of their patience.

Blackburne Refugees arrive at Hale's Moon

In the aftermath of the unprecedented Reaver assault on Blackburne, and the wanton destruction of the Downport, a large number of refugees have arrived on Hale's from the stricken colony. As has been the long standing policy, the Town Council has decided to share what what resources are available with our friends in need.

Colonists are asked to assist where possible, as residents of Blackburne, Washtown, Suzhou, and other Rim colonies assisted us during our own evacuation late last year.

A cortex relay will be available in the Herald offices to assist with communications for any Blackburne refugee who needs to contact loved ones who may have evacuated to other colonies. Shelter, bedding, foodstuff, and other necessities are being arranged for the refugees, and basic meals will be provided in Fook's during the usual hours until the immediate crises has passed.

Town Elders meet with Alliance Command

Recently, the Hale's Moon Town Council held meetings with the Commanding Officer of the local Alliance command, Colonel Silvermane, of the 1st Marine Raiders Regiment. Apparently, these discussions were to reaffirm the colony's neutral position in any potential Independence movement, and to secure assurances from the Alliance command that they would continue to treat fairly with the colony.

While many colonists remember the hostilities of a year ago, and harsh feelings for the Alliance run deep with many of Hale's citizens, Alliance forces have taken a more humanitarian stance with the Colony in recent months, including medical supplies and sending a squad in response to a recent Reaver attack.

The Mayor was quoted as saying "Like them or not, the colony's better off not antagonizing them. Besides, their troopers bring good coin to Fook's and are better behaved than some of the transient bulk hauler crews who come for the ore."

In a prepared statement outside Town Hall after the meetings, Colonel Silvermane stated "I have instructed our forces to show respect and restraint when they are visiting your colony. While they're bound by law to address any illegal activity they encounter, they are also bound by duty to render assistance to you citizens. We are not your enemy, and hope these steps can go towards normalizing relations between the citizens of Hale's Moon and Alliance Regional Command."

While no direct mention was made of recent developments on Shadow and the growing knowledge of the Loyalist Hardliner faction within the Alliance, it's generally believed that Hale's Moon will maintain a neutral stance while still providing humanitarian aid where ever possible.

Reaver raid takes toll

A prolonged Reaver raid yesterday caused a number of fatalities and numerous injuries amongst the colonists of Hale's Moon. The attack, which started some time in the late morning, lasted for hours with an estimated 50 or more Reavers attacking the town over the course of almost 8 hours.

Quick and persistent action by the Colonial Militia was able to keep colonist loses down, though the town is still morning those lost while those who took up arms in the town's defense recover from the ordeal.

Investigations after the attack indicate the Reavers had set down to repair one of their transports, and are likely not associated with the nest recently destroyed by the brave action of the Hale's Moon Colonial Militia.

Private memorial services for the fallen are scheduled across the next several days, and citizens are advised to stay clear of the funeral pyre set for the Reaver corpses two kilometers down wind of town.

While some have questioned the Mayor's insistence on disposing of the Reavers in this way, she was quoted as saying "They used to be as Human as us. They deserve at least that. Besides, tossing them down a mine shaft might contaminate the ground water."

Raider escapes!

Following the recent capture of one of the mysterious Raiders who've been plaguing Hale's Moon and who attempted to abduct our resident doctor, the Raiders returned to stage an unexpectedly brash raid on the Hale's Moon Sheriff's office and it's single jail cell.

While the colony's navtrak array was able to identify the unmarked Firefly class transport the Raiders were using, the warning came too late to prevent them breaking into the unmanned Sheriff's office and blowing off the lock on the prisoner's cell. Before the town Militia could fully react to the attack, the prisoner was loaded into the transport and they were able to take off. Albeit with at least one injury to the attacking group.

Astonishingly, within an hour of breaking out the prisoner, a heavily armed band of Raiders snuck into town and attacked again, this time stealing vital medical supplies and other light cargo. While some have described the theft as 'Everything that wasn't bolted down', the Town Council has assessed the situation and assures all of Hale's citizens that the losses are manageble and will not affect medical treatment for the immediate future.

The investigation into the origin of this particular raider band is ongoing and though there is some evidence that they are based somewhere in the immediate region. It is well known that the region of space near Hale's Moon saw light colonization efforts in the decades before the war, with many of the settlements being abandoned.

Who are these people, then, that have been attacking the fine folk of Hale's Moon? And what can be done to put an end to their banditry?

Kidnapping thwarted!

Two nights ago Raiders in a small short range Skiff abducted Hale's Moon's resident Healer, Doctor Belize Carver. However, the ever vigilant townsfolk quickly took up pursuit of the kidnappers in an effort to recover their resident Healer.

Within half an hour Lilybell Snoodle, the former Sheriff, was able to locate the kidnappers holed up in an abandoned storage facility that dated back to the colony's earliest days. With limited time to assemble, the Militia set out with a limited force to execute the recovery mission.

Keeping careful consideration of the Doctor's well being, the Militia force was able to storm the storage facility and recover Doctor Carver. Casualties were light, and the Militia was able to capture one of the Raiders who is now encarcerated in the town's Jail.

Citizens are asked not to taunt or otherwise harrass the prisoner until such a time as the Town Council can determine what best to do with him.
